Data show that the total output of glass fiber in 2016 is 3.62 million tons, of which the output of tank yarn is 3.4 million tons, accounting for 93.92% of the total output of glass fiber. From the current development trend of China’s glass fiber industry, it is estimated that by 2017, the proportion of tank yarn production is expected to further increase to 94.5%, the output of 3.78 million tons.

Market scale of glass fiber industry: steady growth year by year
In recent years, with the increasing demand for glass fiber and the continuous expansion of the production of Jushi, Taishan and Chongqing three leading enterprises, China’s glass fiber production is rising, while the market size has also achieved steady growth year by year. Data show that in 2012, China’s glass fiber industry sales revenue is 106 billion yuan, 201 billion yuan. It rose to 172 billion 500 million yuan in 6 years and 12.95% in 2012-2016 years. According to the development trend of glass fiber industry, as well as 2017, the industry market will reach 19.6 billion yuan, an increase of 10.50%.

Glass fiber industry applications: construction, electronic and electrical, transportation accounted for more than 70.
In recent years, glass fiber thermoplastic reinforced materials have developed rapidly. New products such as glass fiber reinforced building materials, short fibers and long fibers reinforced materials have become new highlights in the development of glass fiber industry. Wind power generation, filtration and dedusting, environmental engineering, marine engineering and other emerging fields. At present, in China’s glass fiber consumer market, the main application areas of glass fiber are concentrated in construction, electronics and electricity, transportation, pipelines, industrial applications and new energy and environmental protection, accounting for 34%, 21%, 16%, 12%, 10% and 7% respectively. Among them, construction, electronic and electrical, transportation and transportation accounted for more than 70% of the three major areas.

In 2017, the production of fiberglass was restricted by environmental protection, and the prices of main chemical raw materials and energy have been rising continuously since the second half of the year. Domestic glass fiber enterprises have concentrated on raising prices in late 2017, in which China Jushi issued a price adjustment statement that the company decided to increase the sales price of all glass fiber products by more than 6% from January 1, 2018, expiration date to March 31, 2018; Chongqing International decided to increase the price of all glass fiber roving products by 5% from January 1, 2018. In addition, Weiyuan inner China, Shandong fiberglass and Sichuan Weibo have also made price increases.
At the same time, the giant companies have announced the expansion of production news: December 24, the Chinese Stonehenge New Material Intelligent Manufacturing Base started construction, the total investment of the base is more than 10 billion yuan, is expected to be completed and put into production in 2022. The new base will build 450 thousand tons roving production line and 180 thousand ton spinning production line.
On December 29, the holding company of Taishan Glass Fiber also announced that it planned to invest more than 1.2 billion yuan in three projects to promote product restructuring, extend the industrial chain and realize transformation and upgrading.
It is noteworthy that on December 19, the announcement of China Mega-Stone said that due to a certain business overlap between China Mega-Stone and China Medium-Materials Science and Technology in the sale of glass fiber and its products, its actual controller, China Building Materials Group, has launched a plan for the integration of the controlling shareholder, China Building Materials and China Medium-Materials Stock. The combination of the two can not only greatly enhance the concentration of domestic glass fiber industry, but also enhance the global voice of China’s glass fiber industry.
